We lost our head mechanic over the summer due to a sudden death God rest his soul, so we now have 20 or 21 mechanics on staff between the north and south terminal.  So like 350 buses to 20 and 1/2 mechanics.  I can't really say the other mechanic is on staff because he is like part time.  During the school year the good mechanics normal go to the north terminal and the bad ones to the south terminal.  Mainly because the north terminal is in a better area and has more resources so all of the older more experienced mechanics are at north and the younger less experienced are at south.  So thats about a 18:1 ratio.

We have 4 mechanics to take care of a fleet of 80, so that is 1 mechanic to 20 buses....but, most things do not get fixed until they break.

Well, we're at 43 buses per mechanic and will purchase 15 more in January. We have a fleet of 287 or so. Many of them are 20 years old. All will be kept for 20 years. You might say this district gets its moneys worth from their transportation department!! Wink

We have 73 buses, and 4 mechanics. One of them is the head mechanic, he does more paperwork than repairing.

Our mechanics also repair all of the vehicles within the district which includes 6-7 trucks, 7 Jacobson mowers, a mini van and a couple of other pieces of equipment.

We have one driver (Mr. 10) who owns the independent trucking business that fixes/services our 24 buses. I imagine he has a few employees who work for him.

As of the 2009-2010 School Year.

We have three mechanics technically. One is from last year who only does state inspections. The other two are new and replacements and they do everything else.

We have a total of just over 60 buses
